This two-day workshop invites participants to play with print whilst being guided through the process of screen printing. Participants can expect to learn how to create and print their own designs in order to produce their own physical prints onto paper.
This Art Weekender will begin with a detailed overview that describes the process of screen-printing. This will take place in our purpose-built printmaking workshop.
Following this, you are invited to create your own individual design to later print. To aid creation of this, the design process will involve collective discussion during which you are encouraged to explore screen print examples, share your ideas and concepts whilst playing with the creation of your own design.
The development of your design will focus predominately on drawing however there is also the opportunity to incorporate digital elements into your drawings using premade digital separations provided by the artist.
Subsequently, you will be taught how to transfer your design onto 'separations' as part of forming your own two-colour print. Next, you will be taught how to expose your own screen prior to printing.
Throughout the course of the weekend you will develop an understanding of each step involved within the screen printing process, whilst producing your own playful print up to A3 in size.
