A weekend of textile printing throughout which participants will be guided through the screen-printing process. Participants are invited to create their own designs with the aim to transfer these onto fabric; creating a textile wall hanging that can be displayed in the home.
During the two-day workshop you will be guided through the different stages of the screen-printing process from design through to finished product.
You will learn how to develop your own textile designs and you will be taught how to transfer your chosen design onto a ‘separation’. Following this you will learn how to expose this onto a textile screen.
Throughout the weekend you will be introduced to a variety of techniques, this involves exploring printing with paper stencils, learning how to develop colourways, experimenting with shape, texture, and pattern. The use of pigment print pastes and foils will also be a focus.
Participants are invited to combine their learning to create a final print that can then be printed onto fabric. The aim being to create a textile wall hanging that can be displayed in the participants own home.

Paper Houses Design
Paper Houses Design was created by textile designer Mhairi Allan; a stationary collecting, orange obsessing, triangle loving designer, with a calling to geometrics. Her sketches are developed into surface patterns which are designed to transcend seasons. This local designer takes inspiration from man - made structures found within our surrounding landscape. She takes often - overlooked structures and creates bold and stylish patterns.
The products she designs are created to be both practical and versatile and are made for everyday use.
