Corrie Green
BSc (Hons) Computer Science graduate from Scotland.
What subject are you currently studying/did you most recently study at university? What persuaded you to choose this option?
I studied BSc (Hons) Computer Science and have now progressed on to studying a PhD.
What course did you study at college, and which college did you attend?
I studied Computer Science at UHI Moray College.
What did you find easy and what did you find difficult about making the transition from college to university?
I found that making the decision to move and to develop my progress in areas Iām passionate about was an easy choice.
I did find the exposure to a larger city quite difficult, after coming from a quiet northern town.
The transition was great, however. RGU felt like a perfect continuation from what I was doing previously.
Why RGU? What was it that attracted you to the university?
The facilities on offer at RGU were what attracted me: the new, modern campus, and Mac Labs for Unity development were key selling points. The array of study spaces and access to fresh air and scenic views helped to enhance my studies ā it definitely turned out to be positive study environment.
How would you rate your experience at RGU?
Great ā opportunities are always available to capitalise on, and there are a range of skillsets in the university so if you have an interest in a specific field ā chances are there is a member of staff that also shares the same interests.
HOW DID RGU SUPPORT YOU IN YOUR JOURNEY? DID YOU USE ANY OF THE SUPPORT SERVICES AVAILABLE TO YOU?
Support was provided via open days, and academics are very accepting of student ideas and encourage extra-curricular activities.
Undergraduate of the Year awards, Hackathons, and Game Jams were among some of the community-building activities on offer.
WHAT ARE YOUR FUTURE PLANS?
I am aiming to complete my PhD in VR Interactions, and see what opportunities are available at the university to further my research interest.
HOW HAS RGU HELPED TO ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS?
The staff were incredibly supportive, and the cross-collaboration between projects and accessible communications with everyone were incredibly helpful.
COULD YOU TELL US WHAT YOU ARE UP TO NOW, HAVING GRADUATED FROM RGU?
After graduating, I started my own company developing games and was contracted by the government for some work, before returning to RGU to study my PhD.
