RGU law community walk for justice
The Aberdeen Legal Walk organised by the Grampian Community Law Centre invited members of the legal profession to join forces on Wednesday 09 October with the intention to raise money for The Access to Justice Foundation.
This annual event is part of a UK wide program of over 20 walks carried out during the summer or early autumn months. They come at a critical time as legal services come under increasing pressure and frontline advice organisations experience constant surges in demand.
This year, 26 people joined in for RGU’s Aberdeen 5km walk raising a total of £475 for this much needed cause. A huge thank you to all who attended, all who donated, and the event sponsor Digby Brown Solicitors.
The Access to Justice Foundation was established in 2008 and commits to promoting access to justice for the most vulnerable individuals and communities in society. It works with a network of supporters and organisations to fund free legal advice by providing grants to frontline legal advice services and charities.
To date, it’s provided over 50 grants to organisations within Scotland alone. Without these walks and support of the charity, hundreds of people would not get the access and support they need.
The Grampian Community Law Centre operates from RGU and provides students with crucial expertise and work experience as they progress towards a future law career, all the while assisting with the needs of genuine North East clients.
