Art Weekenders

Experimentation

This Art Weekender provides the opportunity to experiment with a range of different disciplines before reaching your final outcome. Workshops include ceramics, jewellery making, textile printing, digital photography and creative coding using a small computer called a micro bit.

The Art Weekender will take place Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 August 2023.

Final chance to sign up by Sunday 30 July 2023.

This workshop is an introduction to BBC micro:bit; a small computer that supports creativity using digital technology. The micro:bit was initially created as part of the BBC’s Make it Digital initiative that launched in 2014, aimed to stimulate creativity using programming and digital technology as a medium. The project supported STEM related learning.

This practical, two-day workshop will take place in our photography studio. The workshop is an introduction to the complexities of Digital Photography whereby participants will be taught how to photograph a still life product using a DSLR camera/digital camera.

This Art Weekender invites beginners to learn how to hand build with clay as a material and encourages experimentation with shape and form. A workshop, whereby participants will be able to create their own hand-built clay creatures.

This two-day workshop invites participants to learn wax carving and sandcasting techniques with the aim to create an individual piece of jewellery in the form of a pendant, cast in silver.

This two-day workshop invites participants to create a textile design with the aim to print onto a silk scarf. Throughout the weekend you will develop a basic understanding of how to prepare your own textile design for screen printing together with how to screen print using textile screens and printing ink.

This one-day introductory workshop invites you to spend your time learning the ancient craft of throwing; a method of forming pottery using a potter’s wheel. This workshop is available on two different days in August.
