Our second Art Weekender will take place Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 February 2023.
This Art Weekender provides an opportunity to learn ‘Kurinuki’; a method of hand building with clay. ‘Kurinuki’ originates from Japan and translates ‘to hollow’ deriving from a traditional technique used to make pottery. This method involves the act of carving away from a single block of clay in the search for a unique form.
Spend the weekend ‘Drawing with Stitch’ with an embroidery workshop. Participants will complete this course with an understanding of how to sew over a dozen different embroidery stitches that can be used in a variety of ways. Using the techniques learnt during the workshop you will create an individual embroidered artwork.
An introduction into design ideation; a creative process where designers generate ideas together in one session. In addition to this the weekend involves learning about melting, rolling, cutting and piercing processes with the aim to repurpose an existing piece of your own jewellery.
An introduction into the screen-printing process; over one weekend you will be taught how to physically print your own design from scratch. Participants will be guided through the different stages of the screen-printing process from design through to a finished product.
