Purpose
This group will explore and formulate ways of addressing issues relating to race that are important to staff at RGU. It is a unique opportunity to have your say as a member of the RGU staff community and to help shape our approach. We are a welcoming and dedicated space to share ideas, set action goals and help make our university a place for everyone to thrive, succeed, celebrate personal and professional identities and be happy to bring their whole self to work.
The group is chaired by the University Race Equality Champion, Leila Neshat Mokadem and brings together academic and professional services staff across RGU. We also work in partnership with the staff Race Network and the Equality and Diversity team to contribute to activities that promote race equality.
Champion
Equality Champion - Race
"I work as a lecturer in Management at the Aberdeen Business School, specifically Module coordinator/leader for BS1281- International Management where I am responsible for promoting cross-cultural agility and awareness amongst students. My core interests lie in promoting equality, diversity and inclusion with a focus on how embracing diversity influences the building blocks of trans-national organizations.
My role as Equality Champion (Race) gives me the opportunity to combine my teaching experience and my core interest in championing equality by encouraging colleagues to bring their authentic selves to work. I believe that this would encourage positive staff engagement and ultimately translate to a better student experience at the university."
