The PLUS one year can be used for the following:
- repeat year of studies due to academic, health or compassionate reasons
- change of course
- first year of entry to a degree course for HND holders
Care experienced students are eligible for 2 PLUS one years.

Care experienced students are eligible for 2 PLUS one years.
Students not eligible for the PLUS one year or who have already used this can still obtain a student loan. They may also be eligible to apply to the Carnegie Trust for the Universities of Scotland for the payment of tuition fees.
