Join us for a 2-hour figure drawing workshop that combines essential life drawing techniques with creative exploration through a variety of mixed media.
Figure drawing, also known as life drawing or figurative drawing, is the practice of observing and capturing the human form in various shapes, postures, and movements. This workshop will begin with basic life drawing instruction, using a clothed life model to help participants understand the structure and proportions of the human body.
Throughout the session, you’ll work from a range of poses, starting with simple line drawings and progressing into more experimental works through collage.
As you observe the human figure in various poses, you’ll be encouraged to respond in a playful and expressive way. Working with mediums such as charcoal, chalks and oil pastels you'll experiment with line, form, colour, and tone to capture movement and emotion.
By the end of the session, participants will have created a collection of A2-sized drawings that represent the human figure, which could contribute to a portfolio for applying to study an undergraduate degree at Gray’s School of Art.
