Health and Wellbeing of Children, Young People and Families
Develop and enhance your ability to support the health and wellbeing of children, young people and families. Gain the knowledge and skills to analyse the bio-psycho-social factors that influence children, young people and family's development and wellbeing. Explore how to assess these influences holistically and consider evidence-based strategies to offer meaningful support.
This online module aims to provide you with an understanding and awareness of strategies and interventions to support child and family health and wellbeing.
The module will equip you with the knowledge and skills to analyse the bio-psycho-social factors that impact the development, health, and well-being of children, young people, and families.
You’ll learn to evaluate frameworks, guidelines, and tools for assessing their health and well-being, and consider how to integrate effective strategies and interventions to support and protect children, young people and families.
Additionally, you will examine the roles and responsibilities involved in supporting and protecting children, young people, and families, while critically assessing the professional and personal skills needed.

Learning Methods
This module is delivered online via our Virtual Learning Environment Moodle.
There will be a short online introduction session followed by a structured timetable of topic content. Each topic will include online lectures, seminars and discussion forum activities. You will be expected to interact in the online environment with your fellow students and tutors.
You will be assigned an academic tutor who will be there to support you through the module and clarify the expectations of the module assessment.

Independent Study
This course is completed through online independent study. It is expected that you will spend a minimum of 300 hours study throughout the module, including the preparation and submission of your written assessment. Your academic tutor will be there to support you through the module.
Assessment
The assessment consists of a 3,000-word written case study assignment. Students are required to demonstrate their understanding and application of key concepts covered throughout the module in line with the five learning outcomes.

Academic Support

Applicants are encouraged to arrange a pre-entry visit to discuss any concerns and to view the facilities.

Library Support
The Library offers support for your course, including the books, eBooks, and journals you will need. We also offer online reading lists for many modules, workshops and drop-ins on searching skills and referencing, and much more.
Career Prospects
This module will support students in developing their confidence and competence in supporting children, young people and families.
The credit from this module may contribute to the MSc Advanced Practice course (Health Visiting or School Nursing) of which this is a core module.
Standard Entry Requirements
Normally, you are expected to be able to demonstrate degree level study; however, if this is not the case, you are encouraged to make contact and discuss your circumstances.
This course is only open to UK domiciled applicants.
English Language Requirements
Applicants must satisfy the University's general admission requirements to courses as contained in Academic Academic Regulation A2: Admission and Enrolment, including proficiency to a minimum standard in the English language.
