Pathophysiology for Advancing Practice
This course will enable you to critically analyse pathological processes to disease management and the impact of investigations to form an immediate management plan within the remit of advanced practice. This module is part of the MSc Advancing Practice programme but can also be undertaken as a stand-alone module.
- Pathological processes and disease management, the efficacy of tests and investigations
- The interpretation and significance of history taking and clinical examination
- The justification of immediate management plans for clients
- Decision making throughout the patient journey
Learning Methods
This module is delivered online using CampusMoodle and incorporates web based workbooks with integrated PowerPoints and resources. In addition, this module will make use of online chat, a virtual clinic, Blackboard Collaborate and discussion forums. You will engage with directed and self-directed learning activities supported by the module team.
Assessment
This course is assessed through examination.
This module is suitable for registered nurses, midwives, health and social care professionals working in a community and acute care setting.
Normally, you are expected to be able to demonstrate degree level study; however, if this is not the case, you are encouraged to make contact and discuss your circumstances.
