This practical, two-day workshop will take place in our photography studio. The workshop is an introduction to the complexities of Digital Photography whereby participants will be taught how to photograph a still life product using a DSLR camera/digital camera.
During the weekend participants will be taught basic camera techniques and will learn ways to control light and colour to aid image capture.
Throughout the weekend participants will be taught several basic camera techniques including depth of field, focal length, exposure, white balance, focus modes and optical distortion.
During the workshop, participants will gain an understanding of the properties of light and will learn how to control light to aid image capture.
Participants will also be introduced to the use of different photographic accessories such as ‘super clamps’ and a ‘magic arm’ which is an attachable arm that can hold a variety of objects or accessories close to your subject.
The use of reflectors will also be introduced whereby participants will learn how to aid image construction and manipulate light. Additionally, participants will learn how to use artificial studio lighting and are provided the opportunity to utilize a range of lighting modifiers to craft a final, digital image.
The final stages of the workshop will focus on the accuracy of colour reproduction. This will involve a demonstration which introduces the use of Adobe software and products such as Adobe Bridge, Adobe Camera Raw and Photoshop. The demonstration enables participants to explore the use of a colour calibration tool and how this can improve the colour accuracy of your digital photograph(s). In addition to this, participants will also explore the use of a colour checker system that is used to create bespoke colour profiles which essentially aid a more truthful representation of the subject being photographed.
