Together with a focus on the UN Sustainable Development Goals, these skills will help facilitate the achievement of Net Zero, energy transition, and the development of a circular economy.
The MSc Engineering Management degree has been designed as an interdisciplinary course cutting across computing, finance and management, innovation and enterprise, and engineering. You will gain the necessary technical, business and meta skills to deliver sustainable engineering projects and overall, enhance your employability.

The MSc Engineering Management course will provide you with an in-depth understanding of the practical and theoretical knowledge of modern engineering management, equipping you with the right skills and knowledge to deliver engineering projects in a safe and cost-effective manner.
This will be particularly important in facilitating the achievement of Net Zero, energy transition and the development of a circular economy. Developing engineering management graduates with focus on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) in a year-long group project which will help facilitate the energy transition.
There is also an Innovation and Enterprise competition and showcase event for students and industry.
The course will provide a theoretical and empirical understanding in the area of Engineering Management, including a comprehensive knowledge of the specialist areas covered by the course within the context of the broader disciplines of science engineering, management and business within which the course is set.
Stage 1
In Stage 1 you will study modules including Project Leadership, Teams and Behaviours; Innovation and Sustainability and Socially Responsible Management.
Stage 2
In Stage 2 you will study modules including Finance for Managers, Data Visualisation and Analysis and Innovation for Sustainable Enterprise.
Stage 3
Stage 3 is the final Stage, where you will focus on the Individual Project Report.

Detailed module informationLearning Methods
The course will be delivered by an interdisciplinary team of subject experts, using a range of methods.
The full time delivery will be a mix of both in class and online activities, increasing interactivity and variety to learning methods.
The part time online course will be via our virtual learning environment CampusMoodle. Each module comprises up to 35 hours of lectures and tutorials.
Modules will be taken in the order in which they appear in the corresponding schedule.
Normally, you must have completed all taught modules before progressing to the MSc Project.

The proposed structure allows for a multi-disciplinary delivery availing of subject experts within the School of Computing, Engineering and Technology and Aberdeen Business School. The delivery team consists of Academic and Industry Experts.

What is needed for MSc Engineering management?
- Applicants normally hold a 2:2 undergraduate honours degree or its equivalent in Engineering or a relevant Science discipline.
- Applicants with either a relevant non-Engineering background such as Geology, Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics and/or applicants with a lower degree classification or those with relevant work experience will be considered on a case by case basis.
- Applicants are not usually interviewed, although some may be if they do not meet the standard entry requirements.
English Language Requirements
Applicants whose first language is not English should have an IELTS of 6.0 overall, with no component lower than 5.5, or an equivalent.
