Tells us about your job and what you enjoy most about it?

I am grateful to be able to continue my practice in a very supportive environment at Leith School of Art. Part of the residency which I am really enjoying is meeting the students and getting involved in their projects. I have been doing tutorials with the Painting Course as well as developing workshop ideas. The opportunities to work with the students is something I really value especially as this is an area I would like to pursue professionally in the future, so it is providing me with the vital skills and portfolio of ideas to take forward.  

Describe the nature of your organisation

The residency has provided me with a studio space for a year, materials, a grant, support in my professional practice and the opportunity to be involved in teaching with the students at the art school.  I am really enjoying having the time and space to challenge my practice and make work for exhibitions which I would not otherwise have had the opportunity to do.

In what ways do you feel your studies have helped your career?

There was a huge emphasis on supporting students for what lies beyond university, and I felt that RGU offered great opportunities to prepare me for the next step and choices in my career.  

What was it like being a student at RGU?

The modern campus and facilities were a really great place to be every day. I liked that the university was quite small and this meant it was easy to get to know people, particularly being involved in clubs and societies.  

Do you have any advice for students/graduates pursuing their studies/entering the job market?

Put yourself in a position where you study something you really want to learn about but that will also challenge you. Embrace all the new opportunities at university. Meet as many people as possible; living in halls, getting into a club or society, forming groups within your course/other courses – this will open up new opportunities in the future and provide you with a network of support.
