RGU Influencer Programme

Empowering Authentic Voices at RGU.

We’re launching a bold new initiative to tap into the creative talents of RGU students by developing an exclusive influencer programme. Our aim is to create real, unfiltered content that truly resonates with today’s social media savvy audience, with particular focus on TikTok.

This programme will enable our students to become the voice of RGU, sharing their unique university experience in a way that is raw, engaging, and truly authentic. It’s not about selling; it’s about connecting. Our student influencers will build a sense of community, showcasing RGU as a place where real experiences unfold and where students genuinely thrive.


How it works

Students will be carefully selected, ensuring they align with the values and goals of the programme and RGU, although creative direction and content creation is entirely up to the influencer and will be posted on their own social media channels.

Working with the marketing and social media team, the influencers will be part of content planning and briefing sessions to help steer their content. A great opportunity to build your network and work with wider organisations. Selected influencers will also receive over £500 worth of equipment* to help create engaging and exciting content, as well as receiving £50 of vouchers every quarter (subject to agreed deliverables being met).

This is a truly unique experience to help grow your following and develop your creative skills if content creation is a career aspiration.

*All equipment belongs to RGU and is on loan for the duration for the agreement. Full T&C's will be provided on successful application.


The challenge

Create a social media ready video that captures the essence and value of life in Aberdeen. When you create the content, please use the phrases UnDiscovered Aberdeen, upbeat, vibrant, exciting, as inspiration.

Your video can include anything from city centre locations and natural landscapes, to hospitality, entertainment and hidden gems. 

Video requirements

  • Filmed in portrait orientation
  • No longer than 60 seconds in length
  • You must be fully present in the video
  • You must be vocally present in the video (voice over or speaking throughout)
  • Two versions of the video must be submitted:
    • Edit one: A fully edited version including subtitles and audio
    • Edit two: if music or subtitles have been added to the final edit, please submit an edited version without music, subtitles and watermarks.

Deadline and applying

The deadline for submission is 17 February 2024.

All submissions must be sent to social-media@rgu.ac.uk via Microsoft OneDrive, which is accessible by using your RGU email address and password. To apply you must be a current RGU student, based in Aberdeen.
