Communication Design students from RGU’s Gray’s School of Art will sell bespoke prints at Edit, the independent lifestyle store in the Bon Accord Centre, Aberdeen.

Edit sells products from talented designers, artists and makers from the North East Scotland, including RGU alumni and now current RGU students, and is delivered by Look Again, Gray’s School of Art and Deemouth Artist Studios.

Students Sofia Burnham, Chloe Campbell, Innes Gregory, Eden Hally and Ewen McGillivary have all been selected for the first print collection from the Communication Design course to be sold at the store.

Iain Morrison, Stage 4 Coordinator forBA (Hons) Communication Design said: "Having our students sell their prints at Edit is a fantastic opportunity to showcase their talent in a professional retail setting.

“Edit’s commitment to celebrating makers from North East Scotland aligns perfectly with our aim to support emerging designers in developing their creative and entrepreneurial skills.”

Eden Hally, a fourth year Gray’s student from Aberdeenshire said: “Being able to showcase my work in the city centre is such a fantastic opportunity. When I designed my print for Edit, I really tried to think outside the box and add a bit of whimsy, curiosity, and fun to how we see Aberdeen.

“My work channels my curiosity about the natural world around me, often featuring animals and plants. I grew up in a tiny place called Tornaveen, near Lumphanan, where there isn't much to do except walk around the woods, fields, and farmland; I moved to the city centre when I was in my early 20s.

“I like to use my illustration practice to bring attention to show how interesting the world around us can be, to help increase knowledge on biodiversity, and because as an adult I have a much deeper appreciation for nature and natural life than I did growing up and I want to share that joy with others. We should hold on to our child-like wonder and curiosity!”

Further editions will be created for later in the year when the students host their Degree Show at Gray’s in June.
