Monday 20 January 2025
The Centre, based within RGU’s School of Health, carries out a range of activities which includes carrying out reviews to inform evidence-based healthcare for a range of funders including the NHS. It also works closely with clinical colleagues across the fields of nursing, midwifery, and allied health.
The Centre has consistently delivered JBI’s renowned systematic review training programme and scoping review workshop, equipping students, researchers, and clinicians with essential expertise in systematic and scoping review methodologies for over 20 years. Over this period, the Centre has trained participants from a wide range of disciplines, including healthcare, engineering, and science, with individuals attending from 14 countries, including Israel, various European nations, and the USA.
Professor Kay Cooper, Centre Director, said: "Celebrating two decades, the Scottish Centre for Evidence-based Multi-professional Practice at RGU stands as an exemplar of innovation and collaboration in evidence-based healthcare.
“We hope that our commitment to advancing evidence-based practice over the past 20-years through the conduct of high-quality reviews, training and our contribution to methodology development has positively impacted on researchers, healthcare professionals and the patients that they care for. As we look to the future, we remain dedicated to facilitating a culture of continuous learning and impactful research."
Professor Zoe Jordan, Executive Director of JBI, said: “The Scottish Centre for Evidence-based Multi-professional Practice at RGU has made an extraordinary contribution to evidence-based healthcare over the past two decades. As a JBI Centre of Excellence, it has consistently demonstrated leadership in advancing knowledge, fostering collaboration, and delivering impactful outcomes for health professionals and communities. This milestone is a testament to their dedication, and we look forward to seeing their continued influence in shaping global healthcare practices.”
Dr Lyndsay Alexander, the Centre’s Deputy Director, was at the 72nd JBIC meeting in Prague held in September 2024 and received a plaque highlighting the two-decade milestone, presented by Professor Jordan.
Furthermore, Dr Alexander gave a presentation on a JBI funded project that is being delivered to build capacity in evidence synthesis with Allied Health Professionals working in NHS Scotland.
