Louis Fosu Nsowah - MSc Construction Project Management
31-year-old Louis had worked in industry in Ghana for several years as a Civil Engineer and Project Planner. He already had a BSc in Civil Engineering, but wanted to study abroad to develop further.

“My interest in Construction Project Management was sparked during my early career as a trainee engineer. I found myself naturally drawn to leading teams in the field, coordinating efforts, and ensuring the successful completion of engineering studies. This experience naturally led me to pursue a career in project controls, a key element of project management.
“While my professional experience had provided me with a solid foundation, I wanted to broaden my perspective and deepen my understanding of project management principles, particularly in the construction sector. The course at RGU offered a valuable opportunity to build upon my existing industry experience and acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to advance my career in this field.”
Studying overseas is a decision Louis's not regretted as he graduates with a MSc Construction Project Management.

“The insights and advice shared by experienced individuals in industry through guest lectures, site visits, and industry events have been invaluable and have left a lasting impact that will will undoubtedly guide my career decisions moving forward. Not only have I gained the necessary technical expertise in construction project management, but I’ve also developed a strong understanding of responsible and ethical practices within the industry. The emphasis on sustainability and the integration of real-world scenarios throughout the curriculum has provided a realistic and hands-on perspective that has prepared me for the challenges we will face in our professional lives.
“My post-graduate degree has significantly enhanced my skillset in several key areas and provided me with a comprehensive foundation for my future career. During Louis’s studies, he also benefitted from online sessions with RGU’s career service, e-Hub, which gave him a valuable insight into the UK job market and advice about how to improve his CV, LinkedIn profile, and interview techniques.
A particular highlight for Louis has been his involvement with RGU's Sustainability Group.

As Louis graduates, he says he has extremely fond memories of studying in Aberdeen.
“I’ve truly grown to love Aberdeen, its unique charm, calming atmosphere, and welcoming community, despite the often-chilly weather. However, I’m open to exploring opportunities in other cities across the UK, depending on where my career path leads me. Whether it’s remaining in Aberdeen or moving to a new city, my priority is to embrace roles that allow me to grow professionally and make a difference in the industry.
