MSc Public Health and Health Promotion student from Nigeria.
What attracted you to your course at RGU?
Having a degree in public health, made me want to pursue more in developing health promotion skills, so seeing a university having a combination of both public health and health promotion attracted me to choosing the course.
Before coming to RGU, what were your expectations? And now that you are here, have your experiences differed?
Before coming to RGU I had many expectations, one of which was of priority to me is for RGU to have a conducive environment for learning, good library facilities, nice buildings, and qualified lecturers. I would say all my expectations about RGU were met.
What’s the best thing about being an RGU student?
As a student at RGU, one of the perks I love is the free gym membership available to me, in addition to all other sports activities. Also, students are always welcome to enjoy various events organized by different clubs/ societies where one can make friends with other students from different countries and cultures. There’s also free WiFi on campus.
Describe your favourite memory of RGU so far?
The day I took a walk to the banks of the River Dee on campus. It was such a beautiful, quiet and picture-perfect.
Tell us about your most challenging or rewarding project, assignment or module. What did you like or dislike about it and how has it helped you?
My challenge was the critical essay writing bit of my courser, as coming from a different educational system, this style of writing was all new to me. This made it difficult for me to understand this writing technique. However, thanks to the support I received from the available study skills support services I was able to learn and excel.
What is your favourite way to spend your time when you are not studying?
I sleep, explore Aberdeen, create content, listen to music, play games, watch movies, volunteer etc.
What would you say to someone considering studying at RGU? Any advice you would share?
RGU is the best place you can be as an international student because the university has all it takes for easy learning and there are a lot of benefits you would gain as an RGU student. It is also a student-friendly university, especially for international students.
