What Our Students Say
Nurzhan Myrzashev
MSc IT for the Energy Industry student from Kazakhstan
What attracted you to your course at RGU?
The reputation of RGU is well-known in my country. During the pandemic, I wanted to change from my engineering specialisation to information technology in the energy industry. There are only a few universities that provide students the opportunity to make this transition and RGU is one. In addition, the tuition fee was affordable for me.
Before coming to RGU, what was your expectation of it - and how has the reality been?
Honestly, I do not remember my expectation. However, I was surprised to see that apart from studying, students have time for extracurricular activities and can join some clubs.
What's the best thing about being an RGU student?
Tons of opportunities to land a good job, modern facilities, and the free gym membership at RGU Sport which has an awesome swimming pool.
Describe your favourite memory of RGU so far?
I will fondly remember the time I spent enjoying a cup of coffee at the SIWB building, while looking out on the River Dee as I studied new reading materials presented in a recent lecture.
What is your favourite way to spend your time when you are not studying? Why is that important to you?
I generally enjoying ditching the bus and exploring Aberdeen on foot. I find this quite enjoyable.
What would you say to someone considering studying at RGU? Any advice you would share?
I would say they should go for it as it boasts of affordable tuition fees, the best learning facilities, great support for students and a guaranteed high-quality education.
