What Our Students Say
Jesus Eduardo Trujillo Hidalgo
MSc Clinical Pharmacy Service Development alum from Mexico.
What attracted you to your course at RGU?
In Mexico the need of modern and accurate pharmacy services is urgent. I was on the lookout for an opportunity to learn from a top-class healthcare service like the UK’s NHS, and when I saw the aim of the course and its modules, I realised it could give me the skills and knowledge to develop a pharmaceutical service back in my country.
Before coming to RGU, what were your expectations? And now that you are here, have your experiences differed?
RGU met all my expectations, the courses had plenty of pharmacy service knowledge which I needed, the professors were also supportive and had great knowledge in their field.
What’s the best thing about being an RGU student?
As an international student the welcome I received from all the RGU staff was awesome. Having the opportunity to work, learn and make friends with people of different cultures was also a pleasant experience.
Describe your favourite memory of RGU so far?
I had a short student placement arranged by my professor at the Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital. We had a great time learning from an actual hospital and having discussions with health professionals and colleagues.
Tell us about your most challenging or rewarding project, assignment or module. What did you like or dislike about it and how has it helped you?
Clinical Pharmacy practice course was the most difficult. I loved it, because in my country we do develop the knowledge to support a patient, but we never had the chance to practice with one. Having this experience was both enriching and challenging to me. After completing the course, I was able to run my project in my country and put in practice the skills I obtained thanks to the course.
What is your favourite way to spend your time when you are not studying?
I love playing video games with my friends and have a streaming account on twitch. I also love to spend time with my family, going to the cinema or watching horror YouTube videos.
What would you say to someone considering studying at RGU? Any advice you would share?
Take a deep look in what are your educational needs are, as well as what skills you currently possess. Also ask yourself questions like; What do I want to do in the future? How do I want to improve my career skills? How can my skills help to shape a better world or future? After answering these questions, you will be able to select the correct course for you. Once you select the course you need to bring your skills and knowledge to every class, share what you think, share your experience, share your feelings, this will not only enrich your experience, but your classmates and professors will also truly appreciate any input you might have.
What do you enjoy most about living in Aberdeen (city, food, people, entertainment, travel, etc.)?
Aberdeen is a quiet city, full of nature. As an international student from a noisy big city, being in Aberdeen brings me peace and calm. I highly recommend you to try the restaurant called, “Freshmex” in the city centre.
