Gray's Staff Projects
Look Again - Project Space
The Look Again Project Space (2018-2023) exhibition and event space in Aberdeen city centre, curated and managed by the Look Again team.
The space focused on supporting and spotlighting the work of creative practitioners connected to the North East and working with the disciplines of contemporary art, design and making. As well as exhibiting work to the public, the space provided professional development opportunities to students, through its volunteer programme.
The Project Space began life as a temporary ‘meanwhile’ space during Look Again Festival 2018, and became an integral part of the public engagement and employability offer of Gray’s School of Art and Robert Gordon University. Exhibitions were supported by a range of funders: RGU Arts and Heritage, Creative Scotland, Aberdeen City Council and Bon Accord.
Project Aims
- To provide a high-quality curated programme of visual art and design for audiences locally and national.
- To support creative practitioners in the North East and provide opportunities to develop sustainable careers in the region, impacting on creative talent retention.
- To provide a city centre space for public engagement impact for Gray’s and RGU.
- To create opportunities for students to build skills, gain knowledge, confidence and test new ideas through engagement with a high quality professional exhibitions and events programme.
"The Look Again Project space was a key resource for public engagement in the city centre, and as a place that we could provide support to the community of creative practitioners, showcasing new work and helping to build sustainable careers. It is so important to have spaces for creative to meet, show work, share ideas, and build collaborations and confidence. The space was an integral part of the cultural offering for the city, and we look forward to developing the scope and ambition of the project, and creating more opportunities for artists, designers and students in new spaces in the future." - Sally Reaper, Director, Look Again
