Immersive Scotland Network

Group of people using VR headsets

The Immersive Scotland Network allows exploration into how immersive technologies are used in other disciplines beyond fashion.

The Immersive Scotland Network emerged from the Augmented Fashion project, allowing us to

explore how immersive technologies are used in other disciplines beyond fashion. During the two year project we have held a number of events across Scotland to help understand the opportunities for immersive technologies across the creative industries including design and craft, gaming, education, tourism and the museums and galleries sector.

Member of the Immersive Scotland Network are all involved in research or work that uses Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality. As a platform for networking, Immersive Scotland enables innovative research projects to be shared; providing a network of support for all who are interested in gaining access to immersive technology expertise and opportunities for collaboration.

The Immersive Scotland Network is funded by the Royal Society of Edinburgh.

Workshop Participant Testimonials

"Exposure to the potential of virtual reality is huge for creative practitioners. I think watching a knitwear designer using virtual reality successfully highlighted the benefits of it and sparked interest. Whereas before it wasn’t on my radar."

"From my background in Zoology / Ecology and education, I could see virtual reality applications as a tool in conservation and raising awareness of the natural environment. Also, health and wellbeing applications in bringing stimulating environments to people who cannot physically access them."

"I really like that crossover space between the virtual and the real, and how you can reconcile these two worlds… how do we get the real, tangible, touchable stuff into the virtual?"
