Sali Goodwin - BA (Hons) Three Dimensional Design
Sali, moved to Aberdeen from her home town of Pontypridd in South Wales. She was attracted to the diversity of each of the courses and wide range of workshops available at Gray's School of Art.
She knew she'd have access to all kinds of equipment and facilities, no matter what course she choose to do.
For her degree show project, Sali has produced a stunning collection of narrative jewellery entitled 'A Growing Memory', that draws on her love for jewellery and digital design. Her work reflects a very personal story and the love for her grandfather.
"My grandfather suffered from Alzheimer's and passed away when I was young, and the one thing that he was always able to resonate with was nature. It was therefore important to embody this within the project.
"My collection is inspired by a wildflower encyclopaedia that once belonged to my grandfather. The circle pattern in the collection represents the words and images my grandfather circled throughout the book and the gemstones in each piece representing the colours of certain flowers."
Now that Sali is graduating, she looks back fondly on her journey at Gray's.
"My experience at Gray's has been truly amazing. From the support from the tutors and technicians to the lifelong friends I have made along the way. As a student I have had the chance to work on live projects and gain experience that will serve me well in the future. I have learnt so much throughout my time here and developed a great deal as a designer and am excited for what is to come.
"Now that I am graduating, I look forward to my next steps. There are so many avenues that I may venture down but for now I am preparing to attend 'New Designers', an exhibition down in London where I will get the chance to meet more like-minded individuals and hopefully gain some recognition for my work."
