How do I get to the graduation ceremony venue?
Public transport is available to the venue. The Stagecoach Jet 727 bus runs frequently between Union Square in Aberdeen’s city centre and Aberdeen Airport, stopping directly outside P&J Live.
Guests with cars should leave adequate time to find parking spaces. Parking should be paid for when leaving the venue.
For more information about parking at P&J Live, visit the venue website:
How can guests access the ceremony?
All guests attending Graduation at P&J Live must have a valid ticket to enter. This includes complimentary, friends and family and accessible tickets.
Find out more about accessibility at P&J Live
Each guest should have their own e-ticket ready on the AXS app (we recommend downloading the app in advance). Guests enter through a different queue from graduands, so they must be able to access their tickets on their personal phones.
Tickets will be scanned at the entrance to the ceremony room. Guests should have their tickets open and ready to minimise queuing.
Please note:
- Screenshots of tickets will not work
- Guest seating is unreserved (no assigned seat numbers)
- Children under 2 may sit on a guest’s knee
- Children aged 2 and over require their own ticket due to fire regulations
- Bag checks will take place on entry in line with venue security rules
- Food and drink cannot be brought into the venue
- VIP guests: If you have been personally invited as an RGU VIP, please go to the front of the queue, where a member of staff will check you off the register
Photographs, video and livestreaming
Photography
There will be a dedicated area for professional photography in the Graduation venue. It is recommended to book via Ede & Ravenscroft prior to the ceremony day.
Be aware, there may be photographers from local publications in attendance, in addition to a professional photographer and RGU’s social media team taking candid images and video throughout the ceremony.
Graduation stage video
To welcome you as our newest Alumni, we are gifting a personalised video clip of your special moment on stage to every graduating student. We will capture the moment you cross the stage to receive your award and will feature your name, graduation date and degree subject.
Your clip will be available to download a week after your ceremony. The link will be emailed to you to view online or download to keep and share on social networks.
Ceremony Livestreaming
Each ceremony is live streamed, giving friends and family who are unable to attend the ceremony the opportunity to watch online as the event happens. The link will be made available closer to the ceremony dates.
Graduation programmes
Each graduating student will receive one printed copy of the graduation programme. This will be given to you when you register at our registration desks in Hall A on the day of graduation.
Guests will not receive printed programmes. They can access a digital version by scanning the QR code displayed at the venue.
Class of 2026 Merchandise
Merchandise will be available to purchase on the day of graduation from the RGU Students' Union. It can also be purchased online via the RGU Shop:
Graduation Day checklist
- Arrive 1.5 hours before the ceremony start time. E.g. if your ceremony starts at 10:30, arrive at 9:00.
- Enter from the Sub-T or Surface car parks and prepare to have your bags checked by security.
- Check-in for your ceremony at the dedicated check-in area.
- Collect your gown and cap from Ede & Ravenscroft.
- Get your official photography taken – remember to book this in advance to avoid missing out!
- Enter the hall via the Graduand entrance and take your allocated seats – doors will close 20 minutes before the ceremony start time.
- Take your cap off before you walk the stage.
- RGU ushers will guide you to the stage to receive your award when your course is called.
- Enjoy your special moment!
We want every graduand to enjoy the full graduation experience. If unexpected delays occur, we’ll still work to include you. If you arrive after registration check-in has closed, you’ll need to follow our late arrival process. Registration desks will close 30 minutes before the start of the ceremony. This means:
- You’ll miss the academic procession
- You’ll be seated in a designated late-arrival area
- You’ll cross the stage after the main student procession
