RGU Game Jam
Saturday 24 October 2026 09:00 - Sunday 25 October 2026 16:00
Location: Sir Ian Wood Building, RGU

The purpose of RGU Game Jam is to present an opportunity for students to develop a computer or board game within 30 hours based on a given theme. The Game Jam is not just a competition, but an event oriented towards having fun, networking, and experiencing mentorship from academic staff and industry members.
The RGU Game Jam is an exciting, hands-on creative technology event where participants come together to design, develop and showcase their own games within a limited timeframe.
Whether participants are experienced game developers or completely new to game creation, the Game Jam provides a welcoming environment to experiment, collaborate and turn creative ideas into playable experiences. Teams can bring together a range of skills, including game design, programming, art, animation, storytelling, sound and marketing.
Throughout the event, participants will have the opportunity to work alongside mentors and industry professionals who can provide guidance, feedback and inspiration. The experience encourages problem-solving, teamwork, creativity and rapid prototyping, while giving participants a chance to develop practical skills that can be valuable for further study and future careers.
The Game Jam is more than just making a game. It is an opportunity to meet like-minded people, build confidence, explore new technologies and experience the collaborative nature of the games industry. Participants will take their ideas from an initial concept through development to a finished playable project, with the opportunity to present their work at the end of the event.
Hosted by The School of Computing, Engineering and Technology, the RGU Game Jam brings together creativity, technology and collaboration in an energetic and supportive environment.
