Our flagship sustainability event is back for Climate Week North East 2026 with a dynamic programme of activities, talks, and exhibitions.
“Our Campus, Our World” will showcase RGU’s progress toward climate action, biodiversity, and sustainable innovation. Organised by our Sustainability Team, it invites students, staff, and the wider community to explore how the University is leading the way in environmental responsibility and climate resilience.
Exhibitions

From RGU staff, students and partners including:
- The Drain of the Future – how biochar could reduce pollutants in our waters.
- The Renewable Village – light-up model showing how cities could be powered in the future
- Sustainable Food Waste – what to do with food scraps and peelings – with tasters!
Sustainability Stalls
Hosted by several of our Schools and external partners, alongside our student group Go Green and a pop-up Kaim Shop.
Biodiversity Photo Competition
The winners of the 2026 Spring/Summer edition will be presented with their awards.

Geothermal Drilling Simulator
N230, Sir Ian Wood Building - 10:30 & 11:30
The UK’s first Geothermal Simulation and Modelling Platform provides a highly realistic training environment for geothermal wells and supports a just transition for the North East workforce.
Digital Innovation Lab
N342, Sir Ian Wood Building – 12:30
The Lab’s multidisciplinary visualisation tools help assess building performance and potential changes to home, commercial properties and public buildings, supporting the construction sector to decarbonise, particularly through the retrofitting of existing buildings and intelligent design of new buildings. in response to the drive towards net zero.
Bike Reuse and Repair
Sir Ian Wood Building, 10:00 - 15:00
Buy an affordable refurbished bike or donate your old bike to be reused and refurbished at Sir Ian Wood Building. You can also bring your bike along for a free check-up and minor repairs with Dr Bike. Free bike marking by Police Scotland and Voi bike demo and freebies. In partnership with Stella’s Voice, North East Cycle Hub and Tyred ‘N’ Cranky.
