Talking About Prisons Project: Prison Museums and Social Interaction
Thursday 03 April 2025 16:00 - 17:00
Location: Online (MS Teams)
This free online event will discuss the findings of the Talking About Prisons project, that explored how people make sense of difficult heritage by studying how visitors examine exhibits at Peterhead Prison Museum.
In this event Dr Rachael Ironside, the project lead, will present the project report we recently completed on visitor interaction in Peterhead Prison Museum, Scotland.
This report was produced as a result of the Talking About Prisons project, funded by the British Academy. This collaborative project between Robert Gordon University and Peterhead Prison Museum, investigated how people make sense of difficult heritage by studying how visitors examine and experience different types of exhibits at the museum.
This event will be of a particular interest to heritage, interpretation and visitor experience practitioners, in prison museums and other heritage organisations. Following the review of the report findings, we will have time to discuss the topics together and share experience.
