Supporting students on Practice-based Learning with Neurodivergence

Join us for our second multi-professional AHP webinar where we will explore supporting students on placement who have neurodivergence and/or reasonable adjustments.
In this 2-hour webinar we will begin with a generic hour for all subjects.
Occupational Therapy Lecturer and the Inclusion Officer for OT, Susan Doogan, will lead the first hour.
Following the session, you will:
- Have a foundational understanding of a variety of neurodivergent conditions which are identified on student's inclusion plans (ASD, ADHD, Dyslexia)
- Have an understanding of how neurodivergent differences may impact the demonstration of learning on placement (sensory, communication (verbal and written), planning and organisation.
- Develop an enhanced understanding of how to foster an inclusive environment for learning.
- Understand the terminology of 'reasonable' adjustments within your own workplace and develop a range of reasonable adjustment options for discussion with students.
- Discuss the partnership pathway to be utilised with RGU Inclusion team
In the second hour we will split into breakout rooms for the following four AHP subjects:-
- Diagnostic Radiography
- Dietetics
- Occupational Therapy
- Physiotherapy
In the breakout rooms the Placement Co-ordinator and the Inclusion Officer for that subject will be present to discuss common themes and reasonable adjustments. There will be opportunities to discuss and ask questions in this forum.
