Whether you're just joining us this January, or simply back from the festive break, kickstart the new semester with our series of events and activities in collaboration with the Students' Union.

From 20-31 January, there will be lots of opportunities for you to learn about sports clubs and societies, chat with other students, learn more about life at RGU, and have fun.

Grab your breakfast for FREE at the Union every Tuesday! As the cost-of-living crisis continues to impact people across the UK, the wellbeing of our students and staff remains a priority. Toast, cereal, tea, coffee and juice are available to all students and staff at no cost between 8:15am and 9:30am every Tuesday morning, within the SU space on Level 3 of the Riverside Building. Start your day well and join us to meet, connect and socialise together.

Meet existing RGU student buddies with fun activities (bracelet making) and free food.

15:00-15:30 - Part-time Jobs and Careers Q&A

Join us for an informative session introducing the full range of support available through the Centre for Employability. You’ll learn how to access key services, make the most of eHub, our online platform for careers guidance, resources and tools, and explore the DLRGUplus Awards, a major new initiative that recognises the skills and experiences students gain through extracurricular activities.

16:30-18:30 - Pizza and Paint

Bring your creativity, your friends - or make new ones - for an afternoon of painting, music, and pizza. Food and paint supplies provided.


Wednesday 28 January

Look out for stalls from our sports clubs, societies, student groups, networks, plus local and national businesses & our nightlife partners - all desperate to give you some chat and some freebies!

17:00-19:00 - The Big Quiz

Where - Level 4, RGU Students' Union

Test your knowledge with our Big Student Quiz! Get together with your new friends and find out who will be crowned quiz champions 2026. Themed rounds, bonus rounds and great prizes to be won!

Some tickets will be available on the door, but you should book in advance to guarantee entry:

18:00-20:00 - Supper Club

Where - Level 4, RGU Students' Union

Our FREE Supper Club will be offered, every Thursday between 18:00 and 20:00, in a safe space within the SU in the Riverside Building. Food is served at 18:00 until stocks last.


Friday 30 January

11:00-13:30 - Therapets

Where - Four One Two, RGU Students' Union

Dogs on campus! The Therapets are back in the SU!

Each session with our doggy friends lasts 20 minutes. Tickets are free, but you can make a donation at the door which will go to the Therapets charity.

Spaces are limited available so book to avoid disappointment:

18:00-22:00 - LGBTQIA+ Network: Gaylidh

Where - Dunbar Street Hall, AB24 3UJ

Our yearly big ceilidh event organised in collaboration with other local LGBTQIA+ groups, including UoA LGBT Forum and Granite Gays. The event marks 25 years since the queer community of Aberdeen first came together for a Gaylidh, and is a great opportunity to make new connections outside of RGU!

This is a beginner-friendly ceilidh with no expectation to participate. Some snacks will be provided free of charge, but no bar will operate in the venue, so feel free to bring your own drinks. Tickets sold at the entrance.


Saturday 31 January

09:00-15:30 - Dunnottar Castle Bus Trip

Where - Pick up at RGU at 9:00 and Woolmanhill at 9:40.

Join us for a bus trip to the picturesque seaside town, Stonehaven! You will have the chance to visit Dunnottar Castle and explore Stonehvane. Spaces are limited, so book quickly!

We also advise you to wear warm clothing, hats and gloves due to the cold weather. Please also wear appropriate footwear as the ground may be icy and take great care when visiting Dunnottar Castle.

The Library is also holding a scavenger hunt to help you explore, discover, and unlock the secrets of your university library. Each challenge will guide you to new spaces, helpful resources, and friendly faces. Solve clues, find treasures, and learn your way around - one question at a time.
