Tell us about the theme of your 2023 Degree Show?

I studied Communication Design at Gray’s and my project was called ‘Cosmic Explorers’. I created an educational app for children aged 6 to 10 which was inspired by my childhood fascination with space. It included mini-games, customisation, competitive gameplay and rewards. Additionally, I produced a cohesive visual identity, brand guidelines, animated app trailer, mascot merchandise and digital/print ads.

My goal was to develop thorough and consistent visuals to expand my portfolio and to build my skills in various design fields. To add to the portfolio building, I also produced course branding for the Communications Design course.

How did you feel on the run up to your Degree Show?

I felt a mix of emotions. A bit concerned about making sure everything was ready to exhibit, but also ecstatic to share my work in front of thousands of people. I did my best to make the most of my final year. It was rewarding to see my project come to life and I enjoyed the experience.

Did any opportunities come from your Degree Show?

Degree show was a great experience to build up my network with inspiring professionals in the creative industries. I gained clients for freelance design work and also met some of my future peers at Prospect 13 who I joined as a Graphic Design Protégé not too long after graduation. I’ve continued to network with fellow creatives, pursue personal projects and had my design work showcased in London for Fedrigoni 365!

You returned to campus recently to deliver a class talk to students, how was it?

It was wonderful to return to my design course! I discussed my creative journey with education, placements and freelancing. I also shared my creative work with Prospect 13 and overall tips for students transitioning into the industry.
