RGU combines strong academic leadership with a clear governance framework to ensure effective decision-making, accountability, and long-term success.
How RGU is governed
Robert Gordon University is governed by the Board of Governors and led by the Principal and Vice-Chancellor. Together with the Executive and Academic Council, they provide strategic leadership, academic oversight, accountability and effective decision-making across the University.
- The Chancellor is the ceremonial Head of the University and confers degrees and awards.
- The Board of Governors is responsible for the University's overall strategy, governance and stewardship.
- The Principal and Vice-Chancellor is responsibile for the day-to-day leadership and management of the University.
- The Executive supports the Principal in delivering the University's strategic priorities and operational objectives.
- Academic Council oversees academic standards, quality and the academic work of the University.
- Committees support governance, decision-making, scrutiny and risk management across the institution.
